A Recording Assistant is only required for the Jumping and Throwing events.
Being a Recording Assistant is not a huge commitment of time and really benefits the efficiency and enjoyment of the event for the athlete. Typically there are only two events per Age Group every week requiring a Recording Assistant.
The Recording Assistant’s role requires waiting for the field event attempt to be completed and the Chief Judge calling the performance. The Recording Assistant records the performance and is best shared between volunteers.
For the safety of the Recording Assistant, they should stand in a sensible position to avoid possible injury. The best location is to the side of the throwing area, in a sensible position facing the athlete, and concentration is essential.
A Recording Assistant does not require a WWVP Card.
